One of the most highly recommended ways to wash your alpaca product so that it lasts you a lifetime is to either dry clean or hand-wash it. If you choose to hand-wash your alpaca products, such as alpaca wool sweaters, scarves, or blankets, follow these steps:

1. Fill a clean basin or sink with lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, as it can cause the alpaca fibers to shrink or felt together.

2. Add a small amount of mild detergent specifically designed for delicate garments or woolens. Make sure the detergent is suitable for hand-washing and doesn't contain bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the fibers.

3. Gently submerge the alpaca product in the water and swirl it around. Avoid agitating or wringing the item, as this can cause stretching or deformation of the fibers.

4. Allow the item to soak in the soapy water for about 5 to 10 minutes. This helps loosen any dirt or oils.

5. After soaking, drain the soapy water and refill the basin with clean lukewarm water. Rinse the alpaca product by gently swishing it in the water. Repeat this rinsing process until the water runs clear and no soap residue remains.

6. Once rinsed, carefully lift the alpaca product out of the water and gently squeeze out excess water. Do not twist or wring the item, as this can damage the fibers.

7. Lay a clean, dry towel on a flat surface and place the damp alpaca product on top of it. Roll the towel with the alpaca item inside to absorb more water. Press down gently on the rolled towel to squeeze out additional moisture.

8. Unroll the towel and transfer the damp alpaca product to a dry towel or a drying rack. Reshape the item to its original form, gently stretching it if needed.

9. Allow the alpaca product to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources. It may take a day or two for the item to completely dry, depending on the thickness and size.

Remember, alpaca products are delicate, so it's important to handle them with care during the washing and drying process. Following these steps should help maintain the quality and longevity of your alpaca item.
